Florida State University's Myron Rolle named Rhodes Scholar
High academic achievement? Check. Integrity of character? Check. A spirit of unselfishness, respect for others, potential for leadership and physical vigor? Check, check, check and check. Florida State University student-athlete Myron Rolle, 22, is seemingly the living embodiment of the criteria established more than 100 years ago for the Rhodes Scholarship - one of the oldest and most prestigious awards for international study. The Rhodes Trust agreed, and today named Rolle one of 32 U.S. Rhodes Scholars for 2009 - the first time in nearly 25 years it has awarded the scholarship to a prominent college football player.
Florida State Downs Boston College 1-0 To Advance Into NCAA Quarterfinals
A goal by freshman Tori Huster in the 65th minute was all Florida State (17-2-3) needed as the Seminoles blanked Boston College (15-6-2) 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year and for the fifth time in school history.
Florida State Volleyball Puts The Sweep On North Carolina
It was the sweep to end all sweeps inside the Dean E. Smith Center as Florida State prevented North Carolina from clinching the ACC title with a huge 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-21) victory in Chapel Hill on Friday night. The Seminoles are now 21-8 overall and 13-6 in the conference as they extend their winning streak to six straight matches, and put a stop to the Tar Heels' nine-match streak on their senior night. UNC slip a bit to 20-10 and 14-5 as FSU is now tied for second in the league with Duke and Miami.
